When I was a kid and visited my grandparents, I always remember them having a “coupon drawer.” Every Sunday they would go through the Florida news paper with a sharp pair of scissors and with surgeons dexterity would cut out this weeks coupons. They would save $0.25 on tuna fish, or a free sample of cream cheese, and even a dollar off cereal which was as they said “good for me, without all the sugar crap!!” Well I still have my teeth thanks to my grandparents and the 50 cent coupon from Crest…
I remember being so embarrassed when we went to the supermarket and my grandmother would pull out 50 snippets of coupons and do this weeks shop. The savings did add up but at the time all I could think about was how cheap they were… “How are 25 cents going to make a difference.” My Grandparents passed away and through their frugal shopping and penny pinching managed to leave the family quite a nice sum of money and even put me through an Ivy League education. Shame on me, I know…
But Coupons and Frugal concepts of today have changed with the internet. There are deals to be found online with a click of a button. For example Amazon has a deal section where you can find anything from $9.00 sneakers to ipod kits for 6 bucks, books and even home groceries. The best part is you don’t need to give all your coupons to the sales clerk and wait in line feeling embarrassed.
